Ride4US 2008: Ride the Narrows Bridge!

You voted and we listened. Ride4US 2008 will feature 3 new routes in addition to our 5-mile family fun ride in Pt Defiance Park. The 3 new routes (25, 42 and 62 miles) feature the Tacoma Narrows Bridge to Gig Harbor and now all three include an Ice Cream Stop at the Spar Tavern for our courageous hill climbers. Click here to preview our 42 mile route. Our 25 miler is an out & back across the bridge. Our 42 miler ventures all the way into downtown Gig Harbor. The 62 mile Metric Century will extend up to Burleigh Olalla Rd and will include some big climbs. Ride4US 2008 -- Heart-Pounding Hills, Breath-Taking Scenery, Fun for the Whole Family!

Interested in heart-pounding hills and breath-taking scenery, but don't want to deal with ferries? Help us design next year's Ride4US courses! We're excited about the bike/pedestrian pathway on the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge and in response to your feedback are considering new bicycle courses that don't involve taking a ferry to Vashon Island. We'll still have the 5-mile family fun ride in Pt Defiance Park. And ALL routes will now involve an ice cream stop at the Spar Tavern. After reviewing, send an email to Diego@ride4us.org and simply write "Gig Harbor"or "Vashon Island" in the subject line by DEC 31st, 2007. BTW - Ride4US 2008 will be on Saturday, SEPTEMBER 20th.

802 of you came together last weekend to Ride, Run & Walk 4 UltraSound. Together you raised $92,000+. Last year, our all-volunteer staff set a goal of 500 participants and $55,000 to purchase two ultrasound machines. Because of you, our champions, Ride4US will purchase 3 Sonosite ultrasound machines for Care Net Pregnancy Centers of Pierce County. Thank you for being our champions. Thank you for making Ride4US 2007 our best year yet! Current estimates place us at ~ 800 participants & around $60,000 raised. Our small all-volunteer staff just got all our equipment into storage and is rapidly trying to tally our fundraising totals. We hope to make a surprise announcement in the coming days so please stay tuned! While you're waiting...it's not too late to make a donation.

Pancake Breakfast and FREE Forza Coffee!

From 6:30-9:30 am on the day of the event, participants and volunteers will receive a pancake & orange juice breakfast courtesy of the Knights of Columbus Council 809 and Metropolitan Market! Free Forza Coffee, too! We're the best-supported half-day event in Washington - 110 volunteers, 6 SAG vehicles, 5 fully stocked rest stops, FREE MASSAGES, FREE Family Fun Festival, FREE t-shirts & water bottles, awesome goody bags and a well marked, beautiful course.

New Routes for Ride4US, Run4US & Walk4US

Ride4US will still have heart-pounding hills & breath-taking scenery, but we're doing it over shorter courses of 5, 25, 50 & 62 miles. Run4US & Walk4US will now have 5K & 10K distances and will be one of the most beautiful courses and exciting finishes in Washington state. We'll unveil the new routes in late May.
Ride4US Purchases $42,000 Ultrasound Machine

Thanks to Sonosite, a local Washington manufacturer with a an international reputation, Ride4US was able to purchase a $42,000 machine at an extraordinary discount with proceeds from our 2005 & 2006 events. The ultrasound machine, training & peripherals were all delivered to the new Gig Harbor Care Net Pregnancy Center in time for it's grand opening in February. Thanks to the efforts of our 300 participants, 100 volunteers and Sonosite...we provided Care Net with a gift that will echo into eternity.

Your efforts raised $21,125 for Care Net Pregnancy Centers of Pierce County! (A 700% increase over 2006). Ride4US 2006 had a little over 300 participants. (~ 300% increase). We grew from 12 sponsors and supporting organizations to 36 (a 300% increase). Thank you. This growth is unprecedented in a small all-volunteer charity and it's made possible by your efforts! Make sure and mark your calendars for Ride4US Tacoma 2007 on Saturday September 22nd! PS. We raised just enough money to purchase a new ultrasound machine! We'll let you know from what maker soon!
